What is Urticaria ?

Urticaria may begin at any age. Urticaria can affect healthy people, or it can be associated with medical problems. Some cases are genetically inherited. Urticaria is basically a skin disease typical to youth, but it may occur to the people at any age. Usually intensely itching intradermal vascular reaction (wheals or hives). No epidermal changes such as scaling, papules, or blisters. If the cause can be made out, it is easy to cure urticaria. If the cause is not obvious, then a very effective way to get relief is to use anti-allergic drugs (antihistamines) for some weeks till the problem subsides.
