Tinea Versicolor - What is Tinea Versicolor ?

What is Tinea Versicolor ?

Tinea Versicolor may begin at any age. Tinea Versicolor can affect healthy people, or it can be associated with medical problems. Some cases are genetically inherited. Tinea versicolor is a chronic skin condition caused by a yeast living on normal skin of all people. In most people, the presence of this yeast on the skin is not visible. Tinea versicolor is a common condition, which, though unsightly, is not permanent or serious. The spots that are associated with this condition can be either a light- or reddish-brown or sometimes may be even lighter than the surrounding skin, which is how it got its name “versicolor.”
