What is Herpes Zoster ?

Herpes Zoster may begin at any age. Herpes Zoster can affect healthy people, or it can be associated with medical problems. Some cases are genetically inherited. Herpes Zoster is a very common type of skin disorders but is very dangerous also. Shingles (herpes zoster) is a nerve infection caused by the chicken-pox virus. Symptoms of herpes zoster aside from the burning or intense sensations of sharp pain include reddening of the skin, known as erythema followed by the blistering of the skin.
